Exclusive interview with Jelena Jensen

December 22, 2008, by Petra

Jelena Jensen gives an exclusive interview to Freeones where she answers some very interesting questions about what it’s like for her working in the adult industry…

So when was your first actual adult shoot?
My first shoot was in early February 2003. I had never even modeled mainstream before, so not only was it my first time getting naked in front of the camera, but it was my first time shooting in front of a camera professionally. Scott St. James shot the set and it turned out so good that Club Magazine bought it! So my very first shoot ever was published in Club.

How was that? Did it feel weird or really good?
I was completely comfortable and everyone on set didn’t believe that it was my first time shooting. I guess I was just a born natural! I worked in the adult business in retail and distribution of DVDs, so I was familiar with what a photo should look like and how I needed to pose.

What made you decide to become a nude model?
As I said, I worked in the adult business before working as a model. One of my job responsibilities was to run our booths at various adult conventions and shows…namely AEE and Erotica LA. At every show I was approached by numerous porn directors asking me to do hardcore. I didn’t want to shoot hardcore so I continuously turned them down. It wasn’t until AEE in 2003 that Vince Vouyer suggested I do nude modeling. It never occurred to me that I could shoot alone because I was never really exposed to the glamour world…just the hardcore world through my job. So he introduced me to Scott St. James and Andrew Blake and the next week I went to their offices and met with them. Less than a month later I was booked for my first shoot.

How did your family and friends take it when you decided to go into the adult industry?
Before I had booked my first shoot, I told my grandparents that I was thinking about shooting nude. My grandparents raised me and I’ve always been extremely open and close with them, so I wanted them to know about it before I even did it. They’ve always been very supportive of me and trust me to make the right decisions, so they didn’t have a problem with it. They actually took it better than I had expected them to. My other family members didn’t know for quite some time about it…maybe a year after I had been shooting. Most seem fine with it. What can they really say?  I’m an adult and am allowed to make my own choices. My friends are mostly all ok with it. I lost a couple in the beginning but they were never really close friends so I don’t really care that they didn’t agree with what I do. My real friends accept me and my career choice no matter what I decide to do and I find that those friends are my real friends.

Of course we want to know some personal information, what’s your favorite movie?
That’s a difficult one because I love movies. I actually have my degree in Film Production so I’ve had to watch and analyze a lot of movies. I couldn’t pick just one, but favorites of mine are Run Lola Run, Donnie Darko, Amelie, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?, Chinatown, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later, Tim Burton and Quentin Tarantino movies, and Disney’s Alice in Wonderland. Quite the array of films, I know!

Favorite food?
Sushi! I won’t eat everything at a sushi restaurant but I love the majority of it.

Favorite site?
My own! JelenaJensen.com!

Are you close with your fans? And what do you do for them?
Yes, I take pride in having direct contact with my fans. I do two weekly webcam shows a week so that I can not only hang out and get to know everyone but so they can get to know me. Those that have been longtime members of my site have developed a great friendship with me. I also have a message board on my site that I can chat with my members and answer their questions.

Do you remember your first kiss? And how do you remember that?
Nope. I think I started pretty young so I don’t remember it at all. I remember everything else, but not my first kiss.

What did you do before you started to work in the adult industry?
At the time that I started modeling, I was in my last semester of college and was also working full time for the retail/distribution site that I spoke of previously. I was only able to shoot once or twice a month until I graduated in May 2003. By August I was getting so much work that I quit my job and started modeling full time. I haven’t had another job since.

What do you do when you come home from work?
Now that I don’t live in LA anymore, I have to fly home after work. So after a long day of shooting and then flying, I usually just want to sit on the couch and relax before going to bed. I actually don’t shoot very much anymore though. I run and maintain my website 100% on my own, so I usually work on my site all day, every day from home. When I do get some free time, I usually spend it hanging out with my dog or watching movies until I fall asleep on the couch.

Do you have an active personal sex life? And does your work affect this?
Yes I do have a very active personal sex life. My work doesn’t really affect my personal sex life because I don’t have sex on camera. I’m strictly a nude model and don’t do any hardcore. So my job has never really interfered with my personal sex life.

What is your limit with shooting in adult?
I only shoot softcore and I don’t use toys. I also shoot with girls but it’s pretty tame.

Did you ever do something you now wish you didn’t do?
Nope. I’ve always stuck to my limitations so there isn’t really anything out there that I would want to take back.

Would you prefer lesbian or heterosexual sex?
I think I’m as heterosexual as they get! I LOVE men! I’m not into girls but I do appreciate their beauty and like to kiss them and play with boobs. That’s why my job is so perfect for me. I don’t have to have sex with girls but I get to play with them as much as I want!

Is there someone you really enjoy working with?
I always love shooting with my friends that I’ve known for a long time…Aria Giovanni, Nikki Nova, Adriana Sage and Justine Joli. I also loved working with Aimee Sweet, Crystal Klein, and Erica Campbell but they’re all retired now.

Do you have any tips or advice to people who want to work in the industry?
I always tell girls that they should really set their limitations and stick to them. Don’t let anyone talk you into doing something that you’re not comfortable with and be sure that this is what you really want to do. Once you shoot nude or do porn there is no going back. Expect everyone and anyone to see what you’ve shot because it’s really hard to hide it from those that you don’t want seeing it. And the most important word of advice is you get out of your job what you put into it. The harder you work the more rewards you’ll reap.

We all want to know how you see yourself in the future. Any plans?
For the meantime I’m going to continue doing what I do. I don’t have plans to retire anytime soon. I just re-launched my website in October so I’m definitely going to continue working hard on my site and shooting new and exclusive content for it and I do have more projects coming out in early 2009. I can’t really say where I’ll be in 5-10 years because if you would have asked me the same question when I first started in the biz I would never have guessed that I would be where I am today. You can’t predict the future! I just know that I’ll be happy and moving forward with my life!
