NSPCC accused of risking its reputation and 'whipping up moral panic' with study into porn addiction among children - Home News

The UK children’s charities NSPCC and Childline have been accused of “whipping up a moral panic” after releasing a study that claims that 10% of all 12 and 13 year olds in the country are addicted to porn.

The study has been heavily criticised and questioned since it publication, leading to a number of academics and experts in the fields of study and research to sign an open letter to the NSPCC criticising the study’s publication.

It has been interesting to see such criticism of these charities, which in the past have existed and worked with unblemished reputations. That these signatories felt it necessary to launch such an open and impassioned attack of their position suggests that the study in question might not be all that it seems.
