Vice has one of the best interviews with a porn star that I have read for a very long time.
The lady in question is Asa Akira and it covers a huge amount of ground as well. It mostly centres around her place in the industry right now and her thoughts on continuing to be a porn star when there are other things in life she may like to experience.
There are two things that seemingly concern her – whether she has a place in porn for much longer because of the general fetishising of younger performers, and also the response to her in a non-porn job if she quit.
The latter has been a topic that has interested me for quite some time and one that, I hope, will prove to be easier for former stars as the years go on. But a great read with a thoughtful and great performer.
