There’s an unexpected but interesting article about Ed Powers in the New York Observer today that casts an eye over the gonzo porn genre and also touches on why porn has, to a certain extent, lost its innocence.

The author of the piece unfortunately rather stinks it up with his wide, sweeping generalisations about porn and the people working in it while casting the recent Hot Girls Wanted documentary as the be-all and end-all of porn opinion and fact.

But Powers is as engaging as ever and he talks about why he personally got into porn. His reasons for doing so are quite interesting as well, as are the ways in which he tried to get his content to connect with its audience.

Talking about wanting people who were watching to discover what they liked and going on a ‘journey’ with the performers as they discover what they like is an interesting take. Good article, shame about the dude writing it.
