Grooby Girls Step Into Mainstream Movie Market
The award winning trans studio Grooby have announced that they will be executive producer on an upcoming mainstream horror film called The Girls.
The project has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo where they are looking to raise $200,000 for the movie to go into production, although the target is flexible and the project may still go ahead even if the target isn’t reached.
The film will be a largely trans-oriented production, and is set to address the lack of trans talent and films that is still out there even in 2023. Director Krista Michaels and lead actor Ryder Avalon are both trans.
The most interesting news surrounding the project is the coup of securing the services of award-winning movie composer Simon Boswell, who has worked on a number of notable movies, most especially…. The Crying Game. No, seriously.
One would imagine that The Girls will be a rather more positive film in its portrayal of trans people than Neil Jordan’s awful film though!
