There is now quite a long list of ex-pornstars who have ‘found God’ after ending their porn careers. The most famous examples are probably Erica Campbell and Crissy Moran.

In this interview, Jenna Presley is the latest to have revealed that she has thrown herself into organised religion as a way to reform her life after a porn career that she claims left her suicidal.

It’s a difficult subject, this. I’m certainly not doubting the word of Brittni Ruiz nor anyone that claims that porn drove them to such drastic measures. The problem I have is that it is an easy way to demonise porn.

There are many even more glamorous professions where depression and suicide are just as rife. The high profile suicides of Gary Speed and Robert Enke, two highly successful, talented and wealthy footballers are proof enough of that. But you’ll have noticed that when it’s porn involved, it’s always porn’s fault. And that’s all there is to it for many people, a view only strengthened by the proclamations of Ruiz and others.

It’s certainly heartening that she has found peace in her life and I for one hope that continues to be the case. But will we ever see an ex-pornstar that has turned to religion who has a good word to say about porn? In my opinion, there’s not a hope in hell.
