Vex Ashley Causes Stir With Ballerina / Sex Worker Comparison
The British adult model and pornographer Vex Ashley has caused controversy among the easily offended by suggesting that ballerina and porn stars are no different in the way they commercialise their bodies.
The comments were made on a BBC Radio 4 show called Can Porn Be Ethical? which received an airing last night in the UK. Needless to say, some people are not happy about them.
To be honest I’d never thought about it that way before and I have to say that I really do agree with her point of view. Certainly, there are marked differences between the two professions and how their bodies are presented to an audience.
But her core point is a very strong one indeed. The resultant controversy has mostly been among people who still look down their nose at porn and sex workers.
The fact is that if many of them stopped and thought carefully about her point, she would that Vex is far closer to the truth than they would like to believe.
