Although I do often find it confusing how those of a practising religion variety can possibly carry out a career in porn without regarding that as a clash of values, I think the case of Muslim porn actress Nadia Ali is still an important and interesting one. In her interview with Refinery 29, she talks about how her work has led to her being “banned” from Pakistan and that she regards her porn career as a stepping stone to working in the beauty industry. She never quite illustrates exactly how that career step works, but I found it interesting how she talks about being a “trail blazer”. With such a huge amount of practising Muslims around the world right now, it’s a trail that one day could become very well worn indeed.
