Mike Stabile of the Free Speech Coalition is this Week’s Guest on Adult Site Broker Talk – Part 2
Mike Stabile is a journalist and documentary filmmaker who has been writing about and advocating for sexual speech and workers in the sex industry for more than ten years. His work has been featured in a wide variety of publications, including the New York Times, the Daily Beast, Salon, Buzzfeed, and Playboy, amongst others. The documentary that he directed, titled Seed Money, is about the pornographer and philanthropist Chuck Holmes, and The Advocate named it one of the best documentaries of 2015.
Stabile established Polari Media with the goal of facilitating successful communication between non-traditional groups and businesses and audiences of more conventional interest. Since 2013, he has managed the communications for the Free Speech Coalition.
Their mission is to protect the civil liberties and legal standing of people working in the adult entertainment sector as well as the companies themselves.
Their organization is a leader, a resource, and a tool for the communities that it serves because of the role that it plays in those areas. They derive a great deal of enjoyment from their efforts to lessen the impact of discriminatory laws, misleading information, and social shame on persons whose jobs involve or are otherwise associated with the adult business.
They have been fighting and winning battles that appear to be impossible for over thirty years, starting at the Supreme Court and working their way down to the voting booth and back up again. Even though criticism and attacks directed at our industry occur on an almost continuous basis, we know from first-hand experience that when we get together and fight, we are victorious.
