A new book by an eminent sociologist about the adult industry and the perception of sex and porn in society is receiving rave reviews from those in and out of the adult industry.
Written by Dr. Chauntelle Tibbals and entitled Exposure: A Sociologist Explores Sex, Society, and Adult Entertainment, it has already received a favourable response from prominent performers such as Nina Hartley and Steven St. Croix, with the former suggesting that it should be essential reading for those who have had enough of being force fed mainstream media portrayals of the industry. Academics have also praised her work, with a fellow author and professor praising her “imsight and honesty” about the adult industry.
We have regularly complained about the demonisation of porn in mainstream media on this blog and certainly it is extremely heartening to see an academic voice such as hers challenging age-old perceptions and providing sex work with the intellectual backing it so rarely receives.
