Richard Desmond Ends Porn Involvement

The news that Richard Desmond has sold his remaining ties to the adult industry in the UK is the end of an era in many ways.
A controversial figure in the UK due to his ties to the adult industry allied to his involvement in mainstream media, Desmond’s TV stations, which will continue to broadcast under new management on satellite TV, are among the most long-running in cable and satellite TV history in the country.
But their sale is hardly a surprise with the TV arm now generating very little attention in comparison to their web arms, although their undoubtedly damaged by being restricted to ‘softcore’ content.
It will be interesting to see how much longer these stations last without Desmond’s substantial financial backing behind them.
