Heather Summers gives an exclusive interview to Freeones where she answers some very interesting questions about what it’s like for her working in the adult industry…

What led you into the porn business?
I have always been interested in the industry. Although it’s illegal and extremely frowned upon, I began viewing porn at a young age. At that time, it was very glamorous and sensual. I loved seeing the great hair and makeup, and greatly appreciated the fantasy. I know children aren’t supposed to view pornography mainly for potential harmful psychological effects, but I didn’t like it just for the self-gratification aspect. Still to this day, I look at porn just for the sake of seeing beautiful naked women (and I supposed some men, as well..) Sex is beautiful, even if it is a bit rougher than the typical housewife would allow =)

Did you do anything else before you got into this business?
Lived 18 years =)  I was a hostess at a cabaret before I had done any videos, although I had been looking at adult jobs online when I was 17.

If you had the opportunity to erase this part of your life and start over, would you?
I wouldn’t necessarily want to erase it, but I think everyone always wonders “what if.”

Are you open about your profession with anyone that asks, or are there certain people who you are reluctant to tell?
I don’t think I’m a good liar, so I’m always honest. I have no problem telling someone I’m a dancer or nude model. There are definitely certain people who don’t NEED to know. When I go to the bank or grocery store, I don’t tell the employees. If I’m car shopping, I say I’m an independant contractor, which is true. No matter what, I don’t lie. What’s the point?

How long do you intend to remain in this business? Are you planning on working up until you can no longer find work or is there a particular time line you have?
I intend on keeping it going as long as I want to. I don’t exactly see there being a time line in this industry… There are models and actresses well into their 40s. I’m only 22, so I’d like to believe I have plenty of time. If I decide to make this a full-time career, or even decide to one day go into real hardcore, I would make as much of it as I could, and try to build a decent reputation in hopes of working behind the camera. If I’m going to go for it, it’s going to be for life, I’m sure.

There seems to be a general perception that participants in this business live life “in the fast lane,” because to most of us it seems that sex and partying goes hand in hand. With that being said, how do you find the time to get rest with all this excitement going on?
My question is, since when does sex and partying go hand-in-hand? It’s the assumption people make, as well as perhaps the fantasy the men have..Keep in mind, the girls aren’t REALLY picked up on the street and given $50 for a blowjob. Personally, I’m not a party person what-so-ever, but the next girl may be partying every night.

How much control do you have of your work? Do you get to choose who you work with?
I think for girls who do b/g they can choose to work with only their boyfriend (or girlfriend, I suppose) but I’m not sure if I would be able to request another girl to be in a shoot with me. I would think it depends on the company and the girls I request. I don’t think I’d be able to request working with my favorites..hell, I’d probably be too intimidated and/or nervous.

Can you refuse to do scenes with people you don’t click with?
I’d hope so…I’m sure it would make for a VERY shitty scene if two people hated each other…wait, that might actually make for a really hot ANGRY scene…hmm…

Do you have your say about the use (or not) of condoms in a scene if you do b/g hardcore?
I don’t know anything about that. I’ve wondered that, too. I know there is testing, but if you’re clean and still want to use a condom, would the company you’re shooting with deny that request?

What is the best part of your job? The worst?
I enjoy the relatively flexible schedule. I only have a few gripes about the job thus far, and most I probably shouldn’t discuss in this survery lol  One thing I really am not a fan of is the pressure put on girls- it’s similar to the Hollywood pressures. The wardrobe people might only have SIZE ZERO clothing, which isn’t exactly helpful when you’re a size 2 or 3 and the clothes you brought don’t match the backgrounds. It really sucks when I have this SUPER cute outfit I think fans would love, but can’t be used for shoots! I guess when I get my own website, I’ll bust all those out, though, eh?

What is the strangest thing you’ve been asked to do on set? Did you do it?
When I did a bj scene when I was 18 they tried doing some really fucked up things while the camera was on. Good thing I’m a bitch and make them stop camera. I will NOT do something I am uncomfortable with, and I’m not sure how many other girls are willing to stand up for themselves. That’s something I’ve wondered myself.

What is the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you while on the job?
Hmm… I think just being inexperienced in front of the camera and not knowing how the work will end up once it’s published. It’s mostly embarrassment AFTER shooting rather than actually on set.

Should there be more kissing on the lips between actors, or is kissing considered “too intimate” for the porn business?
That’s such a “Pretty Woman” cliche. I can’t speak for anyone but myself, obviously, and I have extremely limited h/c experience, but I definitely did not have any problems kissing Faye or Rachel when I shot with them lol

What is the first thing you did or bought with your first porn paycheck?
I believe I put it in the bank and paid my bills with it.

Do you feel that “fame” has crimped your lifestyle similar to what a mainstream film star might feel?
Luckily, I’m not exactly famous, HOWEVER, I do find it very difficult when it comes to making friends/dating. I have a close girl friend in the business and I know she’s had similar problems. Men can’t get past your history, or use it to brag about with friends. It almost makes you feel shamed rather than proud. It’s strange. I think people expect you to be a certain way and when they find out you don’t meet that fantasy, it ruins it.

Has porn affected your personal sex life? If so, how?
Well, I’ve been celibate Since last January, with the exception of my shoot with Rachel Starr. I still have yet to have sex with a man… It has affected my personal sex life in the sense that it’s the only sex life I have…besides masturbation =)

Do you have any pets?
I do! I have a black cat named Kitana, and a pug named Kasumi. People who aren’t into video games never get the names correct, and especially have a hard time with Kasumi. *sigh* If only everyone played Mortal Kombat and Dead or Alive!

What do you like to do when you’re not working? Do you have any hobbies?
I’m such a loser =( I really wish I could have this extensive list of fabulous hobbies, but I really don’t! I’m a huge homebody. I love just hanging out at home or with a few friends. The only hobby I really have is playing video games..If watching movies and TV count, then let’s add that, as well. I know I have REAL hobbies, but I’m overlooking them. My mind is very overactive, so I’m trying to think of what would be considered as hobbies, and not just…well, regular occasional activities.

What are your future ambitions?
Doesn’t everyone just want to be happy? Happiness for me isn’t necessarily getting married, having children, or having some great luxurious lifestyle. I only hope that in the future I continue to stay true to myself and not to lose track of who I am or what life throws my way. One of my biggest fears is getting caught up in life and never really doing anything for myself. I would despise myself if I woke up one day and realized I’ve been married for 15 years, have 3 children, and don’t know who I am.

Is there anything you would like your fans to know specifically about you?
I can only hope they continue to enjoy my work, and like me for what I do, and not what I USED to do, or don’t do. I would love for them to know it means so much to me when they enjoy what I do, and I think positive feedback and/or constructive criticism are always welcomed. I’m sure that goes for every model, though.
