Tumblr Bans ‘Deepfakes’ and ‘Creepshots’

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

Another social media giant, Tumblr, has sought to clamp down on non-consensual and fake porn by banning deepfakes and upskirt creepshots from its platform.

As some countries seek to make the creation of such material illegal, Tumblr’s decision will have a huge impact on its practice due to the huge amount of porn and adult content on the site.

They have stated that they will immediately take down such content but did not state if they would ban users posting it, which should be an immediate step for them to take too.

Reddit Bans Fake Hillary Clinton Porn Trolls

Saturday, April 14th, 2018

The BBC reports that Reddit has banned almost 1000 troll accounts, many of which were Russian, and some of which had been posting and sharing a fake porn video ‘featuring’ Hillary Clinton.

This is obviously not the first time Russians have been accused of interfering with American politics, but this is something of an altogether different ilk, I would wager.

My only surprise about all this is that Donald Trump didn’t retweet the video, but with World War 3 looming he’s probably too busy.

Social Media Sites Ban Deepfakes – And So Does FreeOnes

Saturday, February 10th, 2018

Social media sites have acted swiftly and conclusively to try and curb the rise of deepfakes on their sites by banning such material outright.

Twitter and Reddit have become the most notable sites so far to ban said images, with Tumblr expected to follow suit. It’s not clear whether Facebook and Instagram will follow as they have a zero tolerance policy on all nude content anyway.

We at FreeOnes would also like to make it clear that we condemn deepfaking and that any users caught posting such material on our site will be swiftly dealt with. We don’t want that shit on our site, thanks.

Boxing And Porn Stream Retweeted By Cops

Saturday, November 4th, 2017

It’s pretty clear what the Avon and Somerset police were doing a couple of days ago then.

Now, and you didn’t read this, right, I have been known to dabble in the occasional stream of ill-repute when it comes to live sport in the past.

But I can’t recall ever watching a Manchester United game and for there suddenly to be porn broadcast at half time. Although considering how boring they are these days, it would be a welcome distraction actually.

I didn’t watch the Anthony Joshua fight – but I’m guessing the porn was allowed to keep it below the belt. Oh ho, a boxing gag! I get paid for this, you know.

New Zealand Anti-Immigrants Use Fake Taxi Meme

Thursday, August 31st, 2017

Fake Taxi continues to create headlines – although on this occasion it’s through no fault of its own!

No, it’s because some dumbass who happens to be on charge of the Twitter account for some New Zealand anti-immigration political party has unknowingly used a meme created from one of the site’s videos to make a ‘point’ about student debt.

Didn’t work out too well though, as pointed out by The Daily Star. I’ll bet an immigrant wouldn’t have made that mistake.

Jeremy Clarkson Denies ‘Liking’ Porn Videos

Tuesday, August 15th, 2017

What a time to be alive.

The motormouthed co-presenter of a popular car show is forced to issue an excuse that drunk people have been fiddling with his Twitter after people noticed that porn videos had been ‘liked’ on it.

Just once I would like to see a public figure caught doing this responding to this sort of thing by going, “Yeah. I like porn. Go fuck yourselves!”

I would have liked Clarkson a lot more if he had done that. And considering I don’t like him at all, it wasn’t a big barrier to clear for him.

ISIS Twitter Account Targeted By Gay Porn Hack

Tuesday, May 16th, 2017

Now, ISIS don’t have an official Twitter account, for obvious reasons.

But what they do have are lots of splinter Twitter accounts that represent ISIS and they have been under constant attack from Anonymous, and spammed with gay porn and pro-LGBT imagery.

The latest such hack is reported by Pink News and has been done by the same hacker responsible for similar attacks earlier this year.

WachulaGhost has said that he is pleased that they have focused their attentions on him – and while I applaud that, maybe he should retire now!

Twitter Criticised For Porn Bots Piggybacking Trending

Friday, April 28th, 2017

Interesting little article here about how porn bots have been piggybacking top trends on Twitter and littering said timelines with rude imagery.

The thing is, either I have an industrial strength ad blocker or am extremely ignorant (it could be both those things, really), but I haven’t noticed this that much, and I do use Twitter quite a lot.

(@TomCruise – oh come on, you suspected it along!)

That’s not to say it doesn’t go on, I’d be surprised if it does. But I don’t really think there’s much Twitter can do about it other than have staff patrolling those timelines 24/7 and removing tweets and accounts.

And, even if there is porn there, as long as it’s legal then can or should they remove it? I’m not sure. It’s an irritant (for some) more than anything.

UK Politicians Debate Twitter Porn Usage

Friday, December 2nd, 2016

According to the BBC, UK politicians are now debating how they can correctly police porn consumption via social media platforms such as Twitter after the Digital Economy Bill was passed.

Its passing was depressingly predictable in what has been the most hellish political year you could possibly imagine, but now steps to try and block porn usage without age verification notices on Twitter add to the pain.

Maybe we’ll wake up on New Year’s Day and it’s all been a bad dream. Or maybe things can get worse in 2017. Boris Johnson could end up next prime minister, I guess….
