Tumblr Loses 150 Million Traffic Visits

Thursday, March 21st, 2019

Many Tumblr users promised to take their business elsewhere after the social media giant announced a clamp down on pornographic content.

Looks like they have kept their promise.

Wow, that’s a huge hit on their traffic to say the least. After blase comments about directing people to other platforms from the site’s bosses, maybe they’re regretting their flippancy.

They should be. No other social media site has reported a drop in traffic like this ever, that I can remember. Oh well, they were warned.

Tumblr Traffic Down By 20% After Porn Ban

Thursday, March 14th, 2019

Well, I never saw that coming!

That is a huge drop as well, and it’s only likely to drop further because they are still purging their site of adult accounts.

Clearly the people behind Tumblr hate making money, that’s the only explanation for such a monumentally idiotic decision.

Tumblr “Still Bulging With Porn”

Sunday, February 10th, 2019

Well nobody could have seen this coming!

It’s a really good article, this, and there have been a number about the ridiculousness of Tumblr’s porn ban.

But this one really delves into the mechanics of why it’s not working and, actually, how easy it is to work around it.

Mind you, the fact that VenusVixens is still operating as normal, nearly 2 months after the ban, shows you that it’s a complete failure.

Tumblr Porn Ban Inevitably Goes Wrong

Thursday, December 20th, 2018

Well, gee, I never saw this coming.

Tumblr’s quite obvious ludicrous porn ban has hit most of the snags that everyone predicted. Not to mention seeing a huge outflux of users to sites set up quickly by members to house adult content.

Honestly, this has to be one of the dumbest moves I’ve ever seen by a social media site. Which is quite some achievement, isn’t it, because all of them are pretty dumb in their own way.

ManyVids CEO Slams Tumblr Porn Ban

Saturday, December 8th, 2018

The co-founder of ManyVids, Bella French, has issued a statement condemning Tumblr’s imminent porn ban.

Here is her statement in full:-

While we can understand why such action was taken, the decision made by Tumblr CEO Jeff D’Onofrio to ban adult content on its platform has a direct and negative impact on many sex workers’ lives. As supporters of adult performers, we open our doors to all sex workers affected by this unfortunate turn of events. We will continue to be of service and be home to porn stars, cam models, exotic artists and sex workers everywhere who wish to thrive independently in a safe, sex-positive space where adult content is seen, heard and valued as a viable opportunity for self-expression.

Porn sites receive more regular traffic than Netflix, Amazon and Twitter combined each month. While the demand for adult entertainment consumption continues to grow, narrowing the platforms in which they can thrive is simply shameful and blatantly discriminatory.  ManyVids’ top earners make between $20,000 to $40,000 a month.

Clearly sex workers are in control of their lives and on their way to become the largest demographic of the world’s future millionaires, and we will do whatever it takes to empower their financial growth.

It has also been noted that Tumblr’s ban begins on International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers. Great timing, Jeff.

Tumblr Announces Complete Ban On Porn

Friday, December 7th, 2018

I’m sure you will all have heard the news by now that Tumblr is initiating a complete ban on adult content.

The ban will start on December 17th and will have a devastating effect on homegrown and amateur porn.

It will also mean many porn stars who use the platform will be hustling to ‘SFW’ their accounts or risk being throw off the social media giant.

Some are suggesting though this could be Tumblr sounding the death knell for itself and, if that’s the case, they only have themselves to blame.

Tumblr Bans ‘Deepfakes’ and ‘Creepshots’

Thursday, August 30th, 2018

Another social media giant, Tumblr, has sought to clamp down on non-consensual and fake porn by banning deepfakes and upskirt creepshots from its platform.

As some countries seek to make the creation of such material illegal, Tumblr’s decision will have a huge impact on its practice due to the huge amount of porn and adult content on the site.

They have stated that they will immediately take down such content but did not state if they would ban users posting it, which should be an immediate step for them to take too.

Reddit Bans Fake Hillary Clinton Porn Trolls

Saturday, April 14th, 2018

The BBC reports that Reddit has banned almost 1000 troll accounts, many of which were Russian, and some of which had been posting and sharing a fake porn video ‘featuring’ Hillary Clinton.

This is obviously not the first time Russians have been accused of interfering with American politics, but this is something of an altogether different ilk, I would wager.

My only surprise about all this is that Donald Trump didn’t retweet the video, but with World War 3 looming he’s probably too busy.

Social Media Sites Ban Deepfakes – And So Does FreeOnes

Saturday, February 10th, 2018

Social media sites have acted swiftly and conclusively to try and curb the rise of deepfakes on their sites by banning such material outright.

Twitter and Reddit have become the most notable sites so far to ban said images, with Tumblr expected to follow suit. It’s not clear whether Facebook and Instagram will follow as they have a zero tolerance policy on all nude content anyway.

We at FreeOnes would also like to make it clear that we condemn deepfaking and that any users caught posting such material on our site will be swiftly dealt with. We don’t want that shit on our site, thanks.

Boxing And Porn Stream Retweeted By Cops

Saturday, November 4th, 2017

It’s pretty clear what the Avon and Somerset police were doing a couple of days ago then.

Now, and you didn’t read this, right, I have been known to dabble in the occasional stream of ill-repute when it comes to live sport in the past.

But I can’t recall ever watching a Manchester United game and for there suddenly to be porn broadcast at half time. Although considering how boring they are these days, it would be a welcome distraction actually.

I didn’t watch the Anthony Joshua fight – but I’m guessing the porn was allowed to keep it below the belt. Oh ho, a boxing gag! I get paid for this, you know.
